OnGoing Support for Seattle Central Students with ASD

SAILS ongoing support services are designed to help Seattle Central College students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other learning differences. The program supports students by helping them develop learning strategies, personalized to their individual strengths and needs.

Some of the ongoing support services we provide include:

  • Weekly tutoring sessions
  • Personalized learning strategies and study skills
  • Campus and registration navigation
  • Increasing self-advocacy skills
  • Instilling time management and organizational skills
  • Collaboration with professors and advisors to track student progress and facilitate degree completion
  • Assistance with acquiring support from Disability Support Services
  • Vocational readiness training and job placement assistance through our partner program, Mainstay

Fees for On-Going Support

Fees for SAILS on-going support services are $2,180 per academic quarter and are eligible for funding through the State of Washington Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). If you have ASD, you may qualify for SAILS services free of charge through DVR Assistance. SAILS fees are in addition to tuition fees, student activity fees, and other customary fees charged by Seattle Central.

Disability Support

The SAILS program works in partnership with Seattle Central Disability Support Services (DSS), who provide accommodations for students with disabilities. We can help you get set up with accommodations such as:

  • Extra time on tests
  • Sign Language interpreters
  • Shared class notes
  • Course readings in alternative formats
